The highly anticipated game known as Transformers: War for Cybertron has seen a lot of buzz since being released. Amazingly, there have been quite a few people out there that have been very conservative in diving into it in fear of playing another disappointment after being hyped up so greatly. Not to worry, this one goes with the hype and then some. With a fast-pace third person shooter style of play along with intense battles in machinery that can transform, what's not to like about that?

Transformers: War for Cybertron has the story set for the final days of the Autobot's and Decepticon's battle on their planet known as Cybertron. Being stated as canon material, War for Cybertron fills in some of the plot holes in some of the storyline, like how Starscream abandons the Autobots, and how Optimus takes over the position of Prime. For the most part, the telling of the story is well done and stays true to the cartoon, though there are some parts that could be better.

Even while some weaknesses to the storytelling are evident, there is a lot to love about the amount of detail put into everything. Every possible detail is covered to help build the reputation of Transformers to new heights. There are some minor changes in the game that might change the interest level of some fans who are true to the story. There will be some people who won't like the fact that there are some of the old Transformers models with some changes, but still, there are quite a few features that will prove to be well worth some of those changes. Overall, the revamped designs of the old models feel much more relevant, but still keep enough of the original features to where it's possible to keep that old feeling.

Transformations are one of the biggest features in the game. Many levels are designed with the ability to transform, depending on the situation. The ability to use the vehicle and humanoid forms and having the ability to switch them at the most efficient time is a requirement and will come a long way in determining how good many can be when playing. Transformers: War for Cybertron was created with the intent for players to use advanced strategies and experimentation. Unlike many 3rd person shooters, there will be a lot of tricks in the arsenal that have never been seen before. Only the most skilled gamers will be able to unlock its full potential.

The beginners will usually go into cooperative campaign mode in Transformers: War for Cybertron to learn the basics, but multiplayer mode is the number one feature. War for Cybertron uses the ability to transform, thus creating something very original. All the exciting combat featured in single player mode are available online. Competitive online matches can have a maximum of 10 players. Conquest mode is a popular one for many, as the battles of the Autobot and Decepticon teams can change almost instantly, which means that the battle is only over when the match ends.

One of the drawbacks for War of Cybertron is the frame rate and lag, but that's to be expected when playing a game of this graphic intensity. Some other problems are that boss battles can lose their flavor a little, since some of them are more like instant death battles. Other than a few things, there isn't much to complain about. Some of the serious fans will enjoy customizing their characters for their preferred classes in multiplayer.

Even for all the hype, Transformers: War for Cybertron not only lived up to the hype, but surpassed it. It has impressed completely with genius modes of play, including the multiplayer feature. Transformers: War for Cybertron has taken all the positive things about the original story from the cartoon and been created into a very special game.
